OMG.
You know when you see a movie scene where you have the vantage point from inside the car and next thing you know theres a crazy car crash in front of you? That happenned yesterday. It was so undreal, and an episode of cops all at the same time. So were driving on the 417 going to family thanksgiving, and were 6 people in a pickup truck. I was seated between the 2 front seats, no I didn't get to vote I'm just the smallest one so I get to be super uncomfortable every year we go haha. Next thing I know I turn my head to the left at the same time as the drivers to see someone passing us at incredible speed. Well, for those of you who don't know, the 417 is 2 lanes, and we were going about 110 (go cruise control) in the LEFT lane. So the shoulders on both sides are about 5 feet wide at their biggest and gravel. Well the fucking idiot in the car passing us at 180 on the gravel shoulder decides to come back into the left lane, and proceeds to do so by turning the steering wheel full swing. Have you ever tried to turn really fast while biking in gravel or sand? Not a good idea, I've got the scars to prove it. So the car just keeps swerving to the right, all the while the driver in our pickup took his foot off the gas to at least slow down, and the guy in the white car just side sweeps a tiny red car going at maybe 80 - 85. Red car guy never saw it coming. BAM! white car swerves back into our lane, only to swerve right back into the right lane. By this time red car guy had slowed almost to a stop, so he wasn't in the way. White car guy keeps sweriving to the right, and eventually goes into a ditch with about 2 feet of water, AND SOMEHOW MANAGES TO NOT FLIP THE CAR. It's pointing the wrong way, but it's still right side up. So we decide to pull over and wait for the cops, to explain how we saw it. As we do so, Mr crazy ass white car decides he's getting out, and booking it. Grabs his backpack and runs through 4 lanes with another ditch in the middle, hops a fence and goes for the forest. What he DIDN'T count on was that as the police were chasing him, 2 guys were just hapenning to ride by on their 4 wheelers, got the cops to hop on, and chased him till he dropped. Easy peasy catch. I watched them bring him back to the scene of the crime, and let me tell you I have NEVER seen ANYONE that drunk. They needed assistance to drag him back over the fence! When they got to the car he totalled, stolen, no less, they found like 2 cases of empty heinekein and 3 bottles of wine. really? REALLY?! GUY COMON! I can still see it super clearly how it happenned, and while it was hpenning it was just so sureal. I was sitting with my bf and both of us said out loud while it was hapenning: Really? this is going on right now? It also seemed a lot slower than it acutally was. Red car guy was fine, but they took him by ambulance. He was so much in shock that he didnt even understand what had hapenned. he didn't realise he had been in a car crash. A guy in a volvo stopped at the scene to explain he had been using the white car guy cause of how fast he was going he had been following him to get a clear traffic path, and that he was going 150-160 and wasn't catching up. Damn crazy people. White car guy's going away for a while I think.
All that to say we were totally late for supper, and absolutely not one of us had a drink at the party. What a day though. I had also forgotten how long it took to write a statement. It's long guys, but seriously, if you witness stuff like this please PLEASE stop and take the time to do it, it can really mean the difference between a guy getting away with this kind of stuff if he has a good enough lawyer. The cop was really adamant to have us describe as best we can so there would be no mixup. Also, if youre fleeing a scene and wearing all bright white clothes, hiding in a forest probably aint your best option.
