walked down to the grocery store this evening for bottled water and a bus pass. it was upsetting that it was dark at 5:30 but the lack of light lent something to the fact that tonite was trick or treat in my neighborhood. the little ghosts 'n goblins made me smile; thinking of a time when my mother pulled me in the wagon when i was too tired to walk further for more candy. the storm friday has blown most of the leaves off of the trees now and the sickly sweet aroma of floral decay was also a beatiful sensory indicator to the changing season. i always miss summer when it slips away but you can't help but be strangely hopeful for the coming seasons as autumn becomes winter.
happy halloween.
