scuba class day one.
so i arrived at class today wearing a swimsuit from the 1980s (awful) that showed...well, things are getting unruly down there. and i know many of you SGs are fans of BUSH (are you there, chapter_one?), but i am not. i didn't realize what it looked like until i asked the instructor if i had fastened my b.c.d. vest around my waist properly. everyone looked down, including me, and saw the equivalent of two large hedges emerging cheerily from under my black-and-white-swirls-and-confetti-geometric-print one-piece. if my boyfriend doesn't return from toronto soon, i may have to fight the battle myself this time. just aster, the razor, and a handheld mirror.
ok. you probably want me to stop talking about BUSH already and tell you how scuba went. oof, many mixed feelings. so much equipment to keep track of. feels so strange to breathe that weird, super-dry, compressed air into my lungs. my awful sense of direction remained awful at 10 metres under. and the pool was very small and square...i felt like an aqua baby (TM). DON'T PANIC, i kept thinking. perhaps i will feel better when i'm strapped into all that gear, but in maui under the hot sun? is that too bourgeois a thought?
