Lomas de Lachay, Lima, Peru. Photography by @gaborcinus
As you guys know, I'm from Lima, the capital of Peru. My city is also like a suicidegirl, the kind that is beautiful not just in the outside or because of the status quo standards but because is interesting and espontaneous. It's a complicate place to live in because is very chaotic and has a loooot of traffic. But if you are patient enough and don't mind waiting, you can discover little treasures hidden in plain sight all around the city.
Lima has several faces, the one that outsiders see (San Isidro/Barranco/Miraflores districts and the touristy area downtown) and all the rest of the city, filled with the real Lima's spirit, full of contrast and the sons and daughters of imigration of the countryside. That's my favorite, it's no fancy at all but is full of constrasts and unique things that you won't find anywhere else.
I sometimes feel sad for my country because here education and health are not seen as a priority by the goverment and my people suffer a lot because of this, but then I talk to my fellow peruvians and they remember me how strog we are and how many dreams we have as individuals and that wakes me up to keep going. That's what I love the most about my country. My people doesn't give up and if the damn polititians don't do something about it, we go and we do it ourselves! Even when is no perfect, we don't stay still and we do something about it!
So if you ever come to Peru and you are willing to look beyond the pretty face, let me know and I'll be happy to share my world with you :)
