Well, my first tat is also the only one I have.
When I was 15 my godfather died and I was really depressed since he was the dad i had never had. It was a really dark period in my life but with a lot of love and care, I recovered and started with my life again. There was a friend that was truly sweet to me and draw me a pair of wings when I told him my story. He said 'Once somebody told me that when someone left, you gain an angel'. I smiled and keep the draw with tender into my diary.
One day, I was surfing with my friends and we were having a lot of fun when another surfer passed over a wave i just had caught. We were really close to the dock, so when I felt down, my board got broken and the tail pulled me down and i was drowning, but something took me off the water and I smashed against the rocks.
Everything happened really fast and the next thing I remember was my friends around, grabbing me and pulling me over a longboard to the beach. My wetsuit was broken on the back top and I was bleeding. Everybody were so scared, they took me to the hospital and I got 5 stitches.
The doctor said I was really lucky because the skeg could also break my skull and the impact against the rocks was likely hard enough to break my bones, and I was there, alive and almost intact. I was shocked!
I went home and for some reason, I'd always returned to that event and as the days passed by, I got more and more obsessed about the idea of get some ink.
So when the scar stop burning, i got my tattoo to remind me how lucky I am and how much I have to thank for having another chance. I'm pretty sure that I always have an angel watching over me and I like to believe that no matter what, I'll be strong enough to keep going until the day I'll learn to fly with my own wings.
