It's not too far, you'll be around Northwick Park and I'm in South Harrow, just over a mile distance, it's really the Hill in between us. I'm sure Uni does=cheap drinks Harrow isn't too badly priced in that regard compared to the west end anyway, a lot of places do a pint for less than 2.
Sounds like you have quite a few options available to you through the course, should be good The English expect english to be spoken anywhere they go and rarely take time to attempt to learn anything else. The remnents of French lessons at secondary school is probably about it. I'm only fluent in English meself, but I'm interested in other languages. I've got bits of Latin, Cymraeg, Gaelic, French, German and Italian, I'm sort of incomprehensible in all of them
