I am so tired of old books. So tired of research. I'll be so glad when the 13th rolls around and the tour is over. I won't be going because I promised to house sit for my dad while he's away for the weekend. But that in itself is welcomed. Being out in the middle of no where, basically, with just me and the animals to keep me company. I'll probably start taking pictures and who knows what will come of it.
I have found that the past is very, very dirty. Okay, so maybe I already knew this. But when you start to dig into places you are around all the time, it just hits more and more at home. I was looking forward to doing all of this research. Finding things out about the area I come home. But the deeper we get, the more gut wrenching it gets. To a point where we don't even know what to include in the tour sometimes its so dirty. Race wars, murders, cover ups to wrongful deaths, lynchings, people being burned alive..... On and on. And that's just in Tyler alone.
We've tried to keep it light. But day after day for the last few weeks of having to see this stuff, its just draining. And I don't really feel like I have much release from it, really.
One things for sure, The Spirits of Tyler tour may not have many ghost, but it definatly has its skeletons.

Yeah Texas history is a lot more dark and twisted than people realize, i am pretty sure my family was part of the outlaw element when the first came here in the 1870's.
