I like to think I conduct myself in a professional matter when in the feild of research, be it with ghost or else wise. I tend to only want to surround myself with people who do the same. Sure we may not take ourselves serious at times and may rag on a few 'crazies' we encounter. That being said, when it comes to investgating for a client in their home, place of business, ect they are our number one concern. Most of the time they are scared out of their mind at occurnaces going on and only want us to either A) make it go away or B) help them understand what is going on for whatever reason.
Case in point that I would like to show is our investigation at an undisclosed home this weekend. We were relayed a case from TAPS Family (to whom we are not a part of yet and my not be due to the happenings of this weekend) in which the home owner was very upset and flat out scared out of their minds due to things going on in their home. This being the case, even though most of our resendece investigations turn out to be nothing more then people's imaginations running wild, we still like to help people out and hopefully get them to calm down. So we are busting butt to get to the investigation.
Our tech guy couldn't make it because his car broke down, so we are all kinds of running around crazy and just trying to scramble what little equipment we have with out having Chris there to get to the home and conduct the investigation properly. We actually get there on time and find the place (that's in a kinda remote area) pretty easily. Things are looking good, so we just know that something has to go wrong.
And it did. Not with the investigation, it was great. The people were nice and what I like to call normal. Which is a nice change. But it turns out that not 24 hours before, another team investigated the house and the house was blessed the next morning. Okay, this is not a big deal. We are not the kind of team that stakes claim on a location or anything like that. If the home owners want as many opinions as they can get, they are welcomed to it. We really like working with other teams too. Its nice to see how they work and see if we can learn anything from them.
That being said, we were not told about the said investigation. The other team knew we were coming, and common curtisey would say that maybe they would think to let us know that they were going to be there. We would have liked to know what they did, what they experianed, what to expect and so. Plus, we probably would have done the investigation on another day other then right after them. So it was kind of a wasted weekend.
Now, I'm not one to tell people how to conduct thier investigations. Everyone has their own way of doing things and that's fine. I may not practice it, but to each their own. One thing I do not condone is scaring the ever loving crap out of the client. If you're going to use agressive means or other things that might scare a client, then don't do investigations with the home owners present. The End.
Our clients were so scared when the other team were doing their investigation, that they were forced out of the house for most of the time the other team was there. This due to one piece of equipment they use called a Frank's Box. I've never liked the thing. Its got too much of an x factor and is basically like closing your eyes and walking around, hoping you find what you're looking for.
This is a video about one guys opinion on the Frank's Box. I've got to agree with him. Be warned it does have a vast amount of harsh language.

So the Frank's Box told the people (and I'm quoting what was heard) to "Fuck off" and allegedly told one of the home owners he was "A Dickhead". Forgive me if you take offence to harsh language. But I feel the need to write it to better understand the magnatude. If you don't like it, then you are they same type of people as the client and can better understand why we felt they need not be present.
Now, the house was only a stone throws away from a major highway that had high truck traffic. C.B radios anyone? But instead of coming to a conclusion like this, the team "identified three malicious spirits" in the home and told them they need to get it blessed. And they left saying they would get back to them in a few weeks.
So we had to clean up their mess. The house was blessed the day we came. So was it ever really haunted? Who knows. We didn't find anything other then really high EMF (electromagnetic Field), faulty wiring in the addition where most of the so called activity was reported, and a cat toy hanging outside that when it bumped the house, it sounded like footsteps.
We contacted the person who gave us the case, let her know what happened and also tried to talk to the other team. Their team leader has chosen not to discuss anything with us because "they didn't scare the home owners. They only had the best in mind for the client and don't want to discuss it further,". That's all that we got. I don't know about you, but it seems a little rude to me. We were just voicing our concern for the clients. Never implyed that the other team ment to do any wrong, just wanted to give them a heads up.
I just wanted to let this out in an area where no one else involved is probably going to see this. And so what if they do. We meant no harm. We were only trying to do what was best for the client and I'm sorry if anyone saw it else wise. We have two things in mind. One is gaining knowledge of the unknown. Two is helping others. We could care less if our team is on tv, in magazines, or whatever. Just so long as we meet those two things, I really think we're doing good and I will remain proud of the work we do.
