The last time I saw Against Me! it was the most disappointing show I ever saw, because all the songs were WAY slowed down. I don't understand why a punk band would do that, even if they are folk-punk.
BUT they made up for it at the Corner on Saturday, and at the Arthouse on Monday. Those were two awesome shows, and mostly the songs were sped up if anything.
I especially had fun at the Corner. I was close to the front, and I realised that I probably haven't been in a really good pit like that since Big Day Out some years ago. The energy was fantastic and I crowd serfed for the first time
After the show I went to Bosma's house with a friend I haven't seen in a while. It was good times, especially because I scored two free mushrooms (which are in my freezer at the moment).
The evening concluded with me walking from Richmond to my parents house in East Hawthorn. I found myself wishing I'd eaten the mushrooms. It would have made my trip home a lot more fun.
I was so impressed with the gig, I went again on Monday. This time I had a smoke before-hand and stood back to observe. It wasn't as fun a way to enjoy the show, but it allowed me to listen more rather than get caught up in the energy.
I bought a t-shirt (only $20... I love it when concert shirts aren't sold at extortionist prices) and a 7" single for $5, even though I have nothing to play it on
