Today's meeting wasn't a total waste, there were some new regulations to discuss, though much of the presentation was geared towards the newer supervisors. It gets me that it is assumed that these people know so little, and in many cases they do know very little. I think the powers-that-be might see this as a sign that they should be more aggressive with training staff -- particularly those that they promote. We're getting there, so I shan't complain any further.

After finishing the meeting I went to the bank and cashed a replacement check that had been cut for me at the beginning of the week. It was a small bonus check from last year, and thus it wasn't greatly missed on this end. The agency disliked that it hadn't been checked though and they had threatened to hold this week's direct deposit from me should it not be resolved. So, the new check was cut, end of the threat, and I cashed it today. I just wish they could direct deposit my bonus checks. It's so annoying to have to go out of my way to cash a physical check.

After cashing my check I went to K-Mart (what a lovely establishment) and purchased some groceries. My shelves were bare and I was getting tired of the beer diet. I bought a mix of food, but I tried to get some healthier choices. I have been trying to go towards making my own foods and cutting out the pre-packaged and processed shit. I couldn't do too much of that at this point as I realized that I was lacking a shit-load of cookware in the new living situation. With time, I hope to add a few more cooking vessels to my collection and with that I can start cooking fresh meals more often. Even as things were, I was able to limit several of my purchases to items labeled organic, the rest I resigned myself to some canned goods prepared for vegetarians and a couple of boxes of frozen veggie burger patties.

I tried to look for some houseplants, but had shit for luck there. This K-Mart is the new Ghetto-Mart in my life (replacing the old Wal-Mart that was just off the LSU campus). I went to the gardening section, and found that much of it was already being uprooted for Yule/Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa stuff. There were no living houseplants to be found. I did happen upon a Martha Stewart greenhouse herb kit. One of those items with the six miniature pots and the packets of seeds to plant in them. I think it was selling for a dollar, and I want to grow an herb garden, so I figured that this idea would be great. At least it made me feel better than if I had walked away without any sort of plant.

On my drive home from K-Mart I noted that if walking a stroller around town is apparently the official recreational activity in Hudson Falls. Indeed, walking a stroller around town might be more common than working during the day.

Now I spend the evening in quiet solitude. I will likely unpack, tidy up, and wash my dishes from my late lunch. Then it's back to surfing for a cushion to use while meditating.

Tomorrow I'm checking out the Dropkick Murphys at Northern Lights. Fucking Rock On!
