PAPERS!
Papers EVERYWHERE!
I should make a more frequent effort to tidy up. Of course, I've done a lot of overtime over the past six months ... but not enough to truly justify the number of papers that I allowed to pile up, quite literally. I have a few papers that are nearly a year old now ... but they were at least placed on the filing cabinet. The rest of the stuff is only a few months old, for the most part. Just allowed to pile up as they were forgotten. Still, it's a lot of work to clean through.
I have piles of clothing as well. I have more clothing than will fit into my chest and my closet. I'm just trying to either wash or place to the side for the time being, but I'll need to relieve myself of some of my clothes, or find alternative storage, particularly for items which are out of season, like my cargo shorts. Gym shorts are always nice to have out, indeed, I am wearing some now. Comfy shorts.
My DVDs just piled up as well, often under papers . Many DVDs had to be piled as there was no room for them on my DVD rack.
It's not even spring yet, but I'm in the mood for spring cleaning.
I suppose there are a number of factors involved . My growing inability to find things. My improving attitude towards daily activities (a result of my improving demeanor overall). My need for orderliness growing beyond the bounds of my computer into other aspects of my personal life. I need room to keep my plants, and I can't find any with piles of shit stacked up in every bit of free space. That's an exaggeration, it wasn't that bad, but there still wasn't much room to conveniently place plants.
Sports cards need to go. Perhaps this weekend, it's more likely that it will be next week. I need to get rid of them. The boxes are so large and many that they consume an obscene amount of storage space. I don't look at them, I don't acknowledge them in any way in my life other than when I curse the loss of storage space. I have no emotional attachment to most of them, other than my late grandmother assisted in the purchase of many of them. I'll probably try to sort through them a bit and remove cards which are of personal value to me. The rest I'll take to the shop. I'll count them all out first and I'll try to get about $0.10 for each of them. I think there are near 100,000 cards. Perhaps I'll just try and visit first, gauge what I think I'll get from the shop, and then check lots of similar size to mind on eBay. I may not be incredibly attached to the cards, and they may be consuming obscene amounts of storage, but damn it, I want some money out of them.
Magazines ... I need to start getting ridding of them somehow as well. FHM and the like will probably go onto eBay. I've had people buy that shit from me before at a reasonable rate. I'll try it again. As for the Playboy and such, I have no clue what I'll be doing with them. Then there are the Penthouse and High Society magazines that I mysteriously started to receive that I want to dispose. They just started arriving, and I hardly pay them any mind other than throwing them in an out-of-the-way corner.
So, just cleaning. Cursing the weather and the cold conditions. Thinking that I need to get outside, despite the cold, and exercise. Fucking cold. Makes cleaning sound like a better option than exercising. Bah.
