Round and round we go...
Inspections turned up some major issues and revealed the extent of the neglect of that house, so I backed out because they wouldn't sell it at a realistic price.
I decided a long time ago that I wouldn't get attached to any house and would view it strictly as a business invesment
, and the numbers just were not working on this one given the problems and repairs that were needed vs. the potential selling price...
Someone else will have to deal with the cat and dog shit on the basement floor (and the acrid stench
), the broken or seriously neglected windows, the heating/ac system that is on it's last leg, the damaged and worn out siding and gutters, the dog scratched trim everywhere...and any tighty-whities that have been left behind (they, I mean Fred, left a pile in the middle of the kitchen floor when we went to inspect the house!!!
). All of that would have been before I reconfigured the living space to make it more comfortable...
Now, the house across the river that just popped on to my radar screen for about $20,000 more looks like it could potentially be a very good investment. If I do the same scope of work to that property, it could pay off very nicely.
My new motto is...Life is a struggle at it's easiest moments, one should not have to deal with another man's tighty-whities!!!!!
