Last night I went to a show at the Giant Robot print shop in Bristol. My friend Lurch's band Towers just got home from tour and it was there welcome back show. It was amazing. I love hanging out at the print shop to begin with, kinda always have. I am not entirely sure why. I think it is because it seems like the same thing as hanging out at the house of the guys that run it, except both of their houses at once. I dont know if that made any sense, but it works for me, so fuck yall. Moving on.
In addition to seeing a bunch of people that I love and miss, I got to see a great fucking show. It had that intimate baasement show vibe, yet with enough space to move around, and enough people to make it legit. All three bands that played were fucking great. Here is my rundown.
1. Gentleman Loser and the Cognetive Dissonence, Bucks Co. PA - Insane space rock with no lyrics. Loud, noisey and fucking good. No talking, no tuning, no breaks between songs, just 20 minutes of awesome noise.
2. MouthBreather, Richmond, VA - Awesome hardcore, with entertaining uptempo beats. I never heard them before this, but I sure as shit am going to go check them out every time they are in the area.
3. Peter and Craig, Bucks Co. PA - The most fucking amazing 2 piece I have ever seen. Dude on guitar. Dude (in Kermit the Frog Costume) on drums. Nobody else. Both guys sang, which I like. Some people get weirded out by drummers that sing particularly in hardcore, but I LOVE it. Do you know wht else I love? Positive fucking hardcore. These two were like a huge bundle of joy and love packaged up in two sweaty hardcore kids and kermit costume, and they managed to do it without coming off cheesy. The guitar riffs were awesome and made me want to dance my ass off. The lyrics were fun and had me singing along by the end of their set. Seriously! I loved these guys.
4. Towers, Bucks Co. PA - I allways love seeing Towers. In adition to beeing solid dudes, they solidly fucking rock. Noisy Noisy Noisy fucking hardcore. I nearly shit myself with the rocking.
I really needed that.
