UPS dropped off my gear today at 11am. I spent the next 3 hours unpacking, assembling, and putting things away to my nuerotic/exacting standard. Here's the thing about me in the studio or the darkroom...
EVERYTHING HAS A PLACE, AND IT HAD BETTER FUCKING BE THERE WHEN I LOOK FOR IT!!!!!
So I very carfully took everything out and arranged it and then put all the lights in their travel bags, ensuring that each one had the apropriate reflectors, cables, power cords... all packed in exactly the right place. Then I got out the umbrellas and the soft box, assembled them, and then took them appart and carefully packed them up in their travel bag. Then the lightstands. And the fucking travel bag for the lightstands has a broken fucking zipper. It does that fucking annoying thing where the zipper head moves along the track, but the teeth dont mesh together. It is such a let down to spend that much money on something(we are talking every penny that I could save for the past year.) and have it not be perfect. I called the company and they are sending me a new one ASAP, so that is cool, but it did kind of harsh my mellow a little bit.
By the time I was done arranging and organizing, it was time for work, so I didn't even get to shoot, but that is no big deal. my only work tommorrow is a meeting, then I can shoot for the rest of the day.
And no Jim, I didn't get them in those hideous colors. I got three 800 watt second strobes in white, and one 1600 watt second strobe in black. I will, from this point on, reffer to the stronger strobe as "the big black one" or "mah nicca."
