Again I'm listening to songs that are unrequited. Ugh. Dick Gaughan, Handful of Earth - epic album, epic meaningfulness, but day-um, I need to stop being so melancholy
artfulodin:
now onto some upbeat music, but still in the basement so that's a need-for-an-uplift

The death of this man makes me sad.

We've lost an important fellow human yesterday, one who did important work interpreting and explaining the strange world we make through our actions in war and cultural collision. He and his work will be dearly missed.

Later today (in approx 4 hours) you can listen to an interview Shadid recorded with Terry Gross in December 2011.

survived the first illness in the house for 2012 without catching it - woo hoo! Little girl is much better and energetic, wife is still on the mend. Saturday we get to have Christmas with the wife's family finally.
mydogfarted:
The wife and I have been sick for weeks.
tita:
The flu came through Vancouver too! Glad you survived unscathed wink Enjoy "Little Christmas" that's what we're calling our delayed one this Saturday.
PS> You can keep up with my 2012 adventures in my new blog!!

Merry Christmas SG gang -

I'm hoping you all are having a better holiday than I am (sick toddler, guff from the wife, depression, etc.).

Best to you because it certainly isn't here with me,
A-O

AWE I DO NOT LIKE TO HEAR THIS. I WANT YOU TO HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A WONDERFUL HOLIDAY SEASON WITH LOTS OF JOY AND HAPPINESS!

Yup, a really interesting ride indeed! I've interviewed few photographers about the passage from analog to digital and what it meant for them & their working experience. It's been an interesting insight!

I truly feel that analog has something more magical... I do understand all the awesome things we could do with the digital techniques (SG wouldn't even exist without it!), but developping films in a dark room has something fascinating smile

I'm listening to 'On Point' now and the subject is returning veterans and their (lack of) care. So depressing. This same thing has been going on since at least the Civil War - if not before. Very sad / very bad.

OK, so I just connected. The set that's been up for an hour (Charlie-Dwam) is a pretty cool concept ('self-timer'). Check it out.

Yes, that's going to count for my promised post today because I've been staying up far too late each day and I need some sleep!
junecleavage:
I wish I could commiserate on the sets - but oddly enough - that and the boards are the places i do not visit on this site.

Sad today; RIP Steve Jobs

You died too young; we thank you for shaping the computing world.

So, tomorrow is an anniversary of a sad and terrible day. I feel for those that were born on Sept 11, as they now cannot celebrate without being reminded of the horrible. That's enough of a downer for me to be sad, even though my birthday is 5 days beyond.

Anyway, this article in the Ottawa Citizen caught my eye - an artist doing what...

A very belated Thank you!!!

And yeah...my bestie has his birthday on the 12, and even for those not born on that day in 2001, it seems to put a damper on it anyway.

So, the state of New York got real over the past couple of days and recognized same-sex marriage. Hoo-fucking-rah! I'm so tired of this being an issue - because it SHOULDN'T BE AN ISSUE. I know SO many people who are in committed same-sex relationships who are better suited to be 'married' than some of my hetero friends. I am just tired of restricting those...

Just back from the Whisky Cruise Boston - wow! So many good scotches (and Irish whiskies, and even some bourbons and others too). Thank goodness it was 4 hours, else I'd have been snookered. Or worse. smile
