the book (booklet?) is selling about as well as can be expected for such and obscure little thing. I'm surprised by the positive comments I'm getting from people who are not artists, river-folk, or who even like the outdoors at all. It's satisfying when I can convey some of the impression I got from something openly enough to appeal to a slightly larger audience while still using some very specific content.

We are through the fourth week of school and I am very excited with the progress in my Life Drawing class. Many of the students quickly grasped some basics and I now have to figure out how to keep pushing them along without losing site of those who are on a more typical track of progress. This is one of those rare semesters where I think that the only way anyone could possibly get a bad grade is if they just get lazy and start missing lots of classes. I'm anxious to see how much everyone has learned when we have the semester review in May!
The snow is melting. I must admit to being torn between happiness and sadness. I'm happy that the weather has brought some nice warm (relatively speaking of course) temps for a couple of days. BUT, I don't like seeing the snow melt quite yet. I want to get a few more days on my skis. Hey! I want to bust out the snowboard for at least one run too!! Besides, the snow has to keep the water in the ground until mid-March, when I'll be ready for it to run off, swell the rivers, and get me excited for kayaking.
