Thursday:
tie up 6 boats to the rack, put 4 inside the truck, drive to storeage in NY, shuffle a bunch of crap, drop off some boats at dealer, drive to western Mass to deliver a boat (get money), visit friend 45 minutes away and have a pleasant sunny teacher bitch session on the back porch with one of my favorite people in the world, drive to central CT and get on the water for 2 hours, go home.
Friday:
drive to M&Ds house in NJ to pick up something I left there but needed today, over to school to rescue my drying prints before the kiddies destroy the print room with last minute prints that they are making to get a good grade for the semester, back up to CT to deliver a boat to someone who tests my nerves (but has cash so ok I'll put up with it for a sale), and then dinner and a beer with one of those friends who is like family and his new baby boy (and of course his super cool awesome cook of a girlfriend) and hanging with their neighbors since everyone seemed to be sitting on the front porch or standing in the driveway drinking beer anyway.
Saturday:
pick up more boats, tie them to the truck and stuff them in the back, drive one hour to the river and spend the afternoon either on the water, selling boats, or checking up on emails to see where I'm meeting who next to get cash for boats. Sleep in the truck because I am way to tired to drive anywhere and party. Gotta do it all again tomorrow.
Sunday:
pick up more boats, tie them....etc. drive an hour and half to the river. Where is everyone who begged me to meet them there? Where? Seriously, after all those stupid emails and calls, where are they? A quick lap on the river and an hour more of waiting around I'm ready to go when one customer shows up on a bicycle because his car broke down. Sell him a boat and promise delivery at the end of next week. An hour of driving later, get the call that another customer is on his way, sooooooooo turn around and drive back. Quick sale. Smiling faces. Happy customer. Money in my pocket. That makes 10 boats sold this weekend. Drive back to NJ so I can wake up close to school and start the day without sitting in traffic.
Monday:
Grade papers and notebook projects. Make a plan for the next wave of colors on all 80 prints. Get fitted for a tux for the little brother's wedding. Pick up Girlysound and bring her to school for her presentation to my class. Meet D outside of my class. Both give professional but casual presentations; exactly what the class needed to make the art accessible and real. Go out for a couple of beers. Drop Girlysound off at the train. Go back to M&D house to crash for the night.
Tuesday:
Shoot a new plate at school to see if the thicker emulsion solves the mid tone gray issue with the photopolymer graveur. Enter final grades into the schools system (too bad that one student did not get her paper in to me after 3 weeks of promising....) Mix a color in etching ink. Total fail. I'll try again tomorrow. Drive up to CT to meet D and drive to our friend's mom's wake. Beers and pizza afterward to get his mind off the family tragedy. Up too late and just getting home now.
I'm sleeping late tomorrow, then it's an all printmaking day. All other responsibilities can wait. Editions are waiting to be finished.
