January always seems to fly by.

Time really slows down throughout December; probably because the holidays can be completely annoying. Lots of fun. Great to visit people. Fun parites. But oh my god the pressure, and how people really are NOT happy at all, and totally aggro on the road. Fuck December. It probably WOULD be better if the holidays were not so commercial. Not too sure about the religious dogmatic in-fighting, but something to chill people out would be good.

Anyway, back to this month. New Year's Eve is not a "romantic" holiday, or a religious holiday, or even a greeting card made up to make money bullshit holiday. It IS a totally random calendar holiday. But it is also one of those holidays where almost everyone just says "fuck it, I want to hang out with my friends". And I cannot find a fault in that at all.

I got to my friend's house too late to do any real sledding (a New Year's Eve tradition). But, I sure was on time to help light the clusterfuck chaotic fireworks show. Fire. Fire! FIRE!! Yes. It was cool.
I also got to talk to my good friend in the army before he got too loaded to make any sense. I"m bummed he's going to the mid-east, but very happy he was on extended leave to see family and friends.

And then there was the past (almost) three weeks. What the hell did I do besides chip away at a million projects that all are not finished yet. February is either going to look really good as these things all pop up in the public eye at once, or I'm going to be a drooling idot by then after having cracked up.

Nah. I think that if it keeps snowing, and I can keep finding time to go snowboarding on cheap Tuesday and Thursday evenings I"ll be fine.

Some fun I-got-a-new-toy news.
I GOT A COOL NEW TOY (duh)
It's an itty bitty waterproof all digital video camera. Yup. I can take it underwater about five feet. That means that I can take it out in the surf, or down a river in my lifevest pocket. He he he. Yup. I'm a geek.

I love New Year's but for some reason in my personal history I've always had, at best, a luke warm experience.

Your camera sounds like the slam!

It's just a small show in Boston of the work I've done thus far in grad school and I have to give an artist talk (eeck!)

Thesis in April, right around the fucking corner!

Hey you... how have ya been? I've been Ill for most of the last two weeks. I have to get back in gear so that I'm on target for the May Rolex GT weekend. I have a large mural project to be installed on site--all work being done in my studio. I should have a studio assistant, and partner in other ventures coming in town within the month. I think you had mentioned that you'd be in the Philadelphia area, though I don't remember specifically. Let me know when, and we'd be glad to make arrangements if you like. Let me know what's up. Agreed, the whole holiday thing only holds up as a tradition amongst friends. Best of luck with everything going forward.
