my friend is a surf board shaper who has a store in Montreal, the first store to do custom boards for locals on the river and among the first people out on the river to be surfing the huge waves.

There is a set of waves by the Habitat 67 apartment building in Montreal, that is terrific for teaching. Alot of surfers seem to stick to this wave only (if anyone wants to see, it's right next to the shore so makes for good viewing). But, others venture out into the more dangerous currents to find the bigger waves.
