Ahhhhhh New Year's.
I was deep in the Grand Canyon for New Year's (and Christmas). Jan 1, 2011 was a sunny, fun day, with the girls dancing on the raft as we floated the last bit of the 225 mile trip.

Resolutions. Silliness!!! I've learned to not be too specific, and usually resolve to have resolution and determination. It worked out well for 2010. I...

Off to the Grand Canyon for two weeks, then southern Colorado.
Research and play all mixed together. Hooray.

That sounds fantastic! Are you going to be making work based off it? I've always wanted to make water colors based off the light there. Hope you take some photos!

AlternativePhotography.com
is making a gallery for me online.
I'm happy to be a part of their community, and proud they like my work enough to include it.

I was suprised that none of the other professors wanted to host this workshop, that goes along with the artist reception in the gallery. So, guess who stepped up and said "Hell YES!" ??? Yup. Me. So, my General Drawing class will get taken over for three hours by artists who will teach notebook/sketchbook/journal/diary stuff, with a focus on finding unique voice in unspoken...

Got terrific news this past weekend. We needed at least one more person for our Grand Canyon trip (there is a minimum), and, of all the people who had been going back and forth, saying they wanted to go but not pulling the trigger when it came time for committment, the person who came through brought another along. They both are perfect additions to the...

Good cause....

Little brother is running the NYC marathon this year. I'm excited for him, and proud. But, I'm even more proud that he has turned his athletic aspiration into a fund raising effort for Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.

His brother -in-law has been dealing with this disease for years. He does well these days, but it is not a "cureable" cancer. He is...

OMG!!! Because of people like you guys, my brother's fund raising efforts are not $1,300 OVER his goal.
Thank you thank you thank you. 93% of the money goes to genuine research. That is a HUGE number!!! Most charities have an administrative cost over 20% so often, less than 80% of the funds raised goes to actual research. MMRF has significanly less admin. costs, so more money goes to research, AND new therapies are being developed all the time. This is terrific.
Again, than you all for supporting MMRF and my brother's efforts in the NYC Marathon this weekend.

Doing my version of the NYC marathon tomorrow. One lap around Manhattan Island in a kayak. The way we have to time the tide (so we can get up the East River) will mean our finish time is after dark, sooooooooooo I bought a bunch of glow sticks!!!!

thank goodness I figured all that out.
Nightmare over.

Hey, hope you are doing well across the river!

How is the school year treating you?

I feel terrible I missed his show but that was the day I was in the Hudson Valley. I don't remember where the waterfall was but I'll do some research and let you know!! Seriously, New Patlz is my new favorite place. I'm thinking of heading up there again relatively soon, the only problem is it's 17 bucks for a train ride!

Glad to hear that you love what you are teaching. It sounds like you are doing awesome and have a lot of classes. I bet it's beautiful being in the water around the city!

Ok. So, I lost my mojo. Can't shoot a screen for shit. 1 barely acceptable screen out of 8 attempts is total crap. WTF?
Speedball is garbage. I know I should be using something else. Kind of frustrating having something like this force the issue becuase I'll have to spend some time fucking up the new system (whatever that ends up being) before I feel...

Good weekend of climbing.

Good research last night which started the group moving forward with the Grand Canyon trip in December.

Thought we had total failure yesterday afternoon with the photo graveur process, but learned some things and I fine tuned the technique after everyone left.

Got the desigsn down for the new bakery tshirts; have the transparencies printed out, screens are coated with photo...
