Thanks for tagging me @kungfury! I appreciate it man!
1. How was your Thanksgiving and what are you thankful for?
My thanksgiving was pretty simple. I didn’t go anywhere or cook much. I actually made French toast for dinner and I’m not even mad. Was wonderful and stress free! I’m thankful for a lot. Life has been good for me the last few months. I have all the right friends in the right places, I’m not stressed over a relationship. Mu bills are paid and I have plenty of play money. I’m right where I need to be and that’s just enough for me.
2. Who's putting up a Christmas tree 🎄?
I totally am! I started on thanksgiving and then got sick for a week. But I finally have it up and ready to go! My gnome tree is a pride of joy and I’m hoping by next year to add to it as I go.
3. Do you have any family tradition for Thanksgiving and Christmas?
For Thanksgiving our tradition was to meet up with family and bring a ton of food. I have/ had an enormous family. When we would get together it would be close to 70 people in one home, and typically 2 bathrooms. Sooooo, it was a mess. Christmas was about the same. Only difference is we would make Christmas goodie baskets for friends, family and the community. I remember many years of going to the police stations and fire stations and medical clinics and dropping of baskets full of cookies and treats that we would spend several days baking and frosting. I still do that myself, even if alone. Here's a few baskets I made a couple years ago, and the process. Hopefully this year I'll do it again.
4. Your best advice?
My best advice? Hmmm, I give advice and guidance for a living. If I had to pick one thing….. “Sometimes getting out of bed is just enough”. While it is the season for crippling depression, sometimes getting out of bed is just enough. Always do your best. Sometimes it’s getting out of bed. Sometimes it’s taking a shower. Sometimes it putting on clothes. That’s just enough. I suppose.
5. Do you have any holiday charities you donate to?
Hmmm. I wouldn’t say I donate to any holiday charities but I do have a “raffle/ tradition” I do on Christmas morning. I go to a breakfast joint every Christmas morning and randomly pay for a small families breakfast dinner without letting them know it was me. I don’t ask for thanks or look back and see how they react. I just let it be. I suppose that counts right?
6. Your favorite Christmas song?
I guess “White Christmas”. It was in Home Alone and The Santa Claus and those are some of my favorite childhood memories.
7. Your best Christmas present, your choices given or received?
I would say the best gift I ever gave was a small corduroy stuffed animal to my “daughter”. She’s had that horse on her bed for 6 years and she still talks about and sleeps with it every day. It’s the small things. Received. I want to say it was a Lego Star Destroyer, which took about 4 days to build. Absolutely massive Lego set. It was a lot of fun to build and admire.
8. Do you have your Christmas shopping done?
I do! Now it’s the waiting game for deliveries then to ship them off to their people. I try to get it done sooner than later anymore.
9. Fun question something you enjoy during the Holidays?
Honestly, I enjoy looking at Christmas lights. It’s something special to each person who does. To see the craftsmanship of the light selection. What and where people put things up. It’s a small thing to admire that someone does and to appreciate the effort of their work, even if for a month.
10. Do you have plans for New Years eve?
I do not. New Year’s Eve is a Sunday. So I’m probably working then I’ll go home and try to sleep through the fireworks. I got nobody to kiss, and I’m ok with that.
11. Your goals for the new year 2024?
Unf. 2024 goals. So glad it didn’t say resolution. Resolution bothers me, means theirs a problem to fix. Goals feel better. Honestly, I plan to move into a nicer apartment by the end of May. That’s a big goal for me and I’m pretty sure I can do it with my new career and salary. I’m pretty excited. That’s really the only one I have on mind lately.
12. Your New Years resolution?
SKIPPPPPPPP
13. Your favourite hobbies?
Like Christmas hobbies? Ummm, baking cookies and sweets. I like to thrown down new recipes in the kitchen. I do write Christmas cards! For those who wants them.
14. Do you do Christmas cards?
I do write Christmas cards! For those who wants them. I may not write great but it’s the thought that counts right?
15. Share anything you want from your past holiday's?
I don’t have much really. I tend to spend my holidays alone and working. They weren’t important to me any longer once I became an adult. So I’ve not placed a lot of importance on them for others or myself. But I feel I’m working on that now. Slowly warming up to gifting and attending dinners and parties for others. I guess I finally have the right people in my life to enjoy them again.
Not sure who hasn't done it or not but I nominate @nanette @amberetta @m0ns73r @fredhincanada @melusine2908 and @amorous!
