So I'm taking some more classes and working on adding certifications for my career, because school is never done for me, and, I really like education. My class has been asked what animal do you feel represents you as a person. Of course this was an art therapy assignment and we were asked to draw it. Sorry folks, I'm not sharing my art haha.
I chose a turtle. It was that or an armadillo. Both are my favorite animals.
Now, most people choose something mighty and fearful or culturally symbolic like a wolf (sorry fellas, many of you are not ferocious for a wolf, and the whole lone wolf thing is depressing. Lone wolves are cast out due to impurities or disease, not because they're tough) some choose an eagle (to see the worlds from up high and be intelligent blah blah blah. I don't buy those.
I'm a turtle. I'm cautious, I stay in my little shell and wait things out, I take my time getting where I need and use my energy wisely. I'm in no rush to accomplish things and I enjoy my own solitude. I'm self reliant and for the most part don't stray too far from my comfort zone and environment.
Not very exciting is it? That's the purpose. Who we actually are, is not often who we want to be. So the wolf, comes from the coward or the impersonator and the eagle come from the person who may live with regrets or having been backstabbed so now they feel the need to be mindful and watchful of others. I'm a turtle because, well, I was reckless in my youth, I trusted the wrong people, I hung out with the wrong crowd and I was too hasty to get things done and made several mistakes along the way. Who I am now is what life made of me, and my choices lead me to become this person. Honestly, I'm ok with it.
So what about you? What animal are you? What animal are you, really?
