Quick excerpt from my current read stated people often confused optimism with being a realist.
Well, the definition given stated that a realist is a person who takes any situation that comes at them and handles it according based on the event and the need.
I laugh at this because so many of my colleagues get jumpy when a patient begins to act erratic or aggressive. They're usually worried how I'm so calm in these situations.
This is relevant because I always and constantly tell people, as I like to consider myself a realist " They're gonna do whatever they want, and we have a protocol to counter whatever it is they choose. So why get all worked up when we already have a plan in place for whatever it is they do?"
Good times, this is why I love reading self help books. You find you have helped yourself enough times to be reminded how you have already learned the lesson, you just need to remember you already did it.
