We had discussed a party. A massive, C&C style halloween party complete with scavenger hunt, lots of fake dead people, and raspberry flavored blood. Perhaps the dead would float in the pool... hang from the trees... be hidden between the knee high weeds of the back field of our friend's parents property.
Instead, we invite our friends to dress up in our grungiest clothes, and become movers, our accessories the cardboard boxes that we use to haul our things into the new house. Our new house.
How appropriate is it that we're moving in over Halloween? Quite, I'd say.
I'm so unmotivated to start packing our things, but at the same time, very motivated to just get it done, overwith, out of the way. I'll live on paper plates and plastic forks. Maybe keep out 5 outfits to wash and wear every week until the move. Creature comforts, who needs them. All I need is an environment of cardboard boxes and bubble wrap. It'll be like camping in our own home.
It's bittersweet, really. But yeah - any of you who care to come and help for pizza and beer (and a place to crash, if necessary) are invited - we'll make it as painless as possible! We'd really appreciate any help you can give
In house news, the house gets it's interior paint this week, the rooms will be painted the colors I have selected (like it or not) starting about tomorrow. We stood outside and examined the exterior paint on the house, and much to the dismay of the budget, it looks like it's going to all have to be repainted. A lot of the trim around the windows needs to be scraped down and redone, so it's something we'd have to do in a year or two anyway. We'd sure rather have it all done and be maintenance free for a good while, since it's so expensive to paint this house (lots of high ladder work).
Trev told me that he wants to plant a tree of our own in the back yard. It has a small tree there that looks like it's really going to end up being too big for that spot, so they'll be taking it out. We'd like to plant something smaller, and ornamental tree perhaps? Your suggestions are welcome.
The back yard will need a lot of landscaping from good 'ol Coble, so I'll get started on that in the spring. November will likely be too cold to be doing too much of that. I'll have them pull some bushes out here and there, but i'm not going to fuss with creating flower beds and what not until spring. It'll be a fun project. Plus, I've contemplated the idea of planning a deck out there, so it's kind of futile to plant anything now until the things that need to be there structurally are there.
Anyways, I'm obviously excited. Seeing the colors that we picked will be exciting - and once the floors are all redone (They sand them down and put 6 coats of varnish!), it'll be an even more obvious change.
In other news this week is finals. I have a philosophy paper to write, and an accounting final to prepare for disaster. Good news is, the prof agreed to let us use notes, which makes me think that there might be a glimmer of hope for survival. It's not even this semester that I'm so worried about, it's next. Who knows.
2 weeks off, after this, for studying for the English Comp CLEP in hopes of not having to take the class. Must take the time to Master it!
