We continue to work towards purchasing our dear home... It was supposed to get a new roof this week, but rain (and more rain projected for this weekend), prevent the new roof from going up. That sets the whole project back, which franky is fine by me. It buys us time.
We were behind on some bills, so I used a small bit of our inheritance to catch us up. We've got a hefty count of debt to settle out, so I'm really hoping that we've reserved enough. If we havent' reserved enough, I'm going to be a hugely sad sad Coble. I mean, I think we could probably lease to own the house if it came down to it, I just really, REALLY want not to get stuck in that trap of renting again. I haven't talked to Joe about that yet because I don't want him to think that there is any doubt in me about things happening, but the fact remains that there is.
In the mean time, I picked up a quarterly membership to elance.com hoping to pick up some contract work to make some extra money. I could only afford the quarterly membership in the Administrative category, which really is the only one that I feel truely confident about anyways. Data entry, spreadsheets, travel arrangements, writing and editing, mail merges, etc. There's really nothing I can't do - I can thank being an executive assistant for all of that. However, there are a bunch of people in India bidding on things, and providing the services for dirt. That whole 'jobs overseas' discussion is a whole other topic, but suffice it to say that it's frustrating I put a couple of bids in on projects, but I'm not confident that I will get them. I also tried Guru.com, but you pretty much can't bid unless you have a paid account, and they're about 3x and expensive as elance. Only 2 projects were open for bidding for people without paid accounts, and one of them seems like a crock to me, but it's local, at least. However, with it being an open bid, I'm sure they god a billion bids from cheapass users like me.
So, that said, if you have any freelance projects, feel free to send them my way, it's for a good cause, and I'm cheap! You'd be suprised what all I can do... muahahaha!
yeah, I know I told people that I'd probably be hunting for a 2nd job as the house situation neared, because I'm of course freaking out. yeah, well. working full time and going to school just apparently isn't enough for me!
Have a great holiday weekend, everyone!
