Ok...gotta try this blog thing...gonna give it a good and proper go....hmmmm. Methinks a glass of wine may help ease the words out; possibly impair my typing/spelling but hey, whatever works 
Well it has been an interesting week but I think some of the highlights for me (this will be super nerdy) were the solar halo we lucky SA people were able to witness at the beginning of the week. This was followed by a double rainbow on Wednesday/Thursday. it got me thinking, what significance did a rainbow hold for them ancestors that are no longer with us? Aside from the well known Leprechaun I discovered many more cultures with interesting meanings assigned to the appearance of a rainbow...here be some tidbits:
Sumerian mythology: "a mass of colours like rainbow hues" are seen as a divine sanction of war! Who would've thought that something so lovely, generally associated with fairies and unicorns, could be associated with war?!?
Norse mythology: the rainbow was called Bifrost and was believed to connect Earth to Asgard. This link was later or will be shattered under the weight of war i.e. Ragnarok.
Australian Aboriginal mythology: the rainbow snake is the Creator (Kurreah among other names) in a dream state, which is the really long period of time that "began the world's creation and that has no end." God bless Wikipedia!
Anyway, I'm not the best photographer in the world but I've attached my attempts at capturing both the solar halo and the double rainbow. here's a thought, if the rainbow is indeed a link to Asgard, does a double rainbow mean that it's a lane in either direction? Or does it mean that a heck of a lot of vikings died and so a larger walkway is required?????
Anyway...hope my meanderings haven't bored anyone to tears or coma....just found it seriously interesting!
Oh and went to see Madame Zingara last night...what a breathtaking experience! Once I've collected my sensory memories of the experience, I'll share them! Love to my darlings - and may the weekend rock your socks and g-strings off!!!!!!
