Everything was slowly turning to dust all summer. Somehow, every little cloud that managed to squeeze out any rain would always just pass us by. But you know, it can't last forever. Probability is that a storm had to hit eventually. And it did... with full force.
Here is what my street right in front of my driveway looked like the morning after our first real rain:
A water pipe burst in the middle of the night. Kind of fun looking, disregarding the fact that we had no water for a while. But ooooohhhhh were the plants happy!! It seemed like one of those "thank god" moments were unraveling before my eyes. And the storm watching was pretty wonderful itself. I wish I could have gotten worthy photos of it. That tree in the middle of the picture is right across from my house. It's overgrown and partially covers the streetlight. So when the wind was going in circles and sheets of rain were moving down the street, there was the most beautiful display of light and shadow that I could watch through my big picture window. It was like the weather was doing it's own personal dance show, just for me!

I love how the world looks right after it rains. It just smells and feels like new beginnings.
