Hallo there world of SG,
Starting off with my thank you's again.
*Smiles*
My debut set, "Black, White and Glam", has been out for nearly two weeks now and I'm so happy to see all the love and comments,
thank you from the bottom of my heart to each of you who has been a part of it's presence on Suicidegirls.com. You guys and ladies are absolutely amazing!
I have been having meetings the past week, planning my next set, which will be taking place end of September if all goes well.
Keep your eyes peeled. :)
And then....
Weekly there are homework topics given to us by @MISSY, @RAMBO, @LYXZEN, and @CHARMAINE
this week I chose the topic “Be our tour guide to your city!”
So as most of you know I’m from Cape Town, South Africa. The mother city, as it is called.
Very different to Johannesburg…
Cape Town might be called the “Mother” City, as some people might have said it takes round 9 months to get anything done.
I beg to differ in opinion there, as we get shit done and still make time to be friendly and party. Sorry Jo’burg!
Anyway, I posted a #tbt on my Instagram today, of myself at “One world”,
to which @dave11111 replied and asked me about trance music.
I then thought to post a blog, and what better way to show you Cape Town, than to do it via my SG Homework…
As allot of the events happen in and around the City of Cape Town, sometimes even referred to as “Ape Town”.
All my life I’ve been referred to as a Goth or a rocker, but a small part of me, well quite a part of me has been known to be musically bipolar too.
That being said…. I also LOVE trance!
It must've come from my neighbor, Michelle, growing up, I’m not even sure how it happened, but the psychedelic hit me at aged 13.
Starting with a lil Paul van Dyk and Tiesto… moving onto Skazi and Infected Mushroom to greater things. It happened, so deal with it. Dun ts dun ts! BOOM!
Our trance season in Cape Town generally starts with the coming of Spring (September) and ends when Autumn starts.
Once again, this being said, it doesn't stop there.
Only the major outdoor parties stop.
However this year, I have noticed a few changes to the norm…
But have not attended any winter outdoors. Not because I’m not die hard, but because I prefer not to get sick, being part of the 8 to 5 world.
Personally I prefer to keep it hard and fast, I find myself listening to quite a bit of hi tech and dark psy, but not restricting myself to this genre of trance.
Finding most of my stuff on Psytube.
Somehow I have found myself befriending some lovely people in the trance community. Here's me name dropping ...
Give them a listen, they are super rad and friendly, to go along with epic psy tunes. Love 'em to bits <3
In South Africa we also have some good ones, my favorites being:
Venues, as previously mentioned are in and around town
So a breakdown of my past year or so in parties would be?
Cape Town and surrounds:
Indoor
Outdoor
Groovy Troopers Mandala Project 2013
The Sunflower Festival Sep 2013 (Sunday Funday)
Alien Safari – Masqued ball 2014
So many links today, apologies! *Blush*
Within the next week or so the outdoor season starts again, with Sunflower festival being number one again.
To be honest, just before the last ended, I felt almost too old to go to them anymore, I just couldn't keep up.
But NOW I'm more than ready to get out there an shake what my mama gave me. AGAIN!
Bring it!
I'm heading for bed, as the weekend starts tomorrow and I will hopefully be meeting the AMAZING @vassilis tomorrow evening,
as she is visiting Cape Town.
Good night lovelies!
Love n Light,
Artillery
