Soooo I wanted to do a Blog Homework assignment, but this week's doesn't apply to me, so I decided to do the homework @missy and @rambo assigned a while ago which is always one of my favourites to read! I love trivia and random facts, especially when it comes to babes on this website, so hopefully you enjoy this, too!
1. The reason I can't do this week's blog homework [Favourite festivals to go to] is that I've never been to a music festival! Or a food festival or anything, actually! I'm not very good with huge crowds of people, and although I love music there's never really been a lineup awesome enough that would make me want to attend anything that's been within a reachable distance.
2. When I say I don't like crowds of people, I really mean that. It's not that I hate people, at all. But I am incredibly introverted, and I DO get nervous in big crowds. I do my shopping on a Tuesday morning because most people shop on Wednesdays and Thursdays, I meet up with friends maybe around a half dozen times a year [and only this past year, that's a LOT for me!] and even though I live with my partner and they're amazing, I spend MOST of my time alone in our room reading or studying or playing games [or on here!] I love my friends and I love my partner, I just really genuinely enjoy being alone. It took me a long time to come to terms with that since it seems to be considered abnormal, but I've learned that it's just part of what makes me, me.
3. I'm a HUGE knowledge nerd. There are some subjects I'm super passionate about, but honestly give me any topic and I'll research it for hours every day until I exhaust myself and/or the available pile of inf5ormation. I'm not happy unless I'm learning. I've had full time jobs before, but even if the money is good and I love the job, I feel unfulfilled because I'm not learning anything. That's one of the main reasons my areas of study are psychology and science - there is CONSTANTLY new research and new discoveries are being made all the time. It will become a career where I can never exhaust the accessible information.
4. I was a super gothy looking teenager, and I'm still a goth at heart. From when I was twelve to when I was nineteen, I never left the house without my black/blue/purple hair teased up into a big Robert Smith style crown, HEAVY black eyeliner and pale foundation, at least two pairs of fishnets [on my arms or legs, didn't matter] and some chunky chunky shoes. When I first started listening to music I'd found by myself, darkwave/post-punk/anything under the 'goth' umbrella was what I gravitated towards. Some of the first albums I bought with my own money were from The Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Alien Sex Fiend, ThouShaltNot and The Cruxshadows. And I STILL listen to all of that! Working in a luxury salon forced me out of looking that way - I got the fake tan and the long blonde hair and started wearing clubwear 24/7 and kind of lost myself, and after leaving the beauty industry I never quite found my way back to what I was - A corset and petticoat with fishnets feels costume-y to me now. But I'm still goth on the inside, where it counts ;)
5. That said... Outside of gothy music, my taste in music is daggy as fuck. I listen to Matchbox 20's 'Best Of' album at least once a week and I recently re-discovered my love for Robbie Williams.
6. After an incredibly difficult childhood in terms of mental health and parents who were very ignorant, I was diagnosed with schizophrenia at the age of twenty. It's the best thing that's ever happened to me. I didn't expect to still be alive, and I don't think I would be alive today if I hadn't been hospitalized and forced to seek help. That sounds incredibly dramatic, but anyone who's been in a similar situation will know where I'm coming from.
7. My favourite colours are purple and green.
8. My first ever job was at McDonald's! I worked there for four years and I actually think it was the best first job I could've had - it taught me so many skills, from how to work in a team to how to operate a register to just generally upping my ability to multi-task tremendously.
9. I have two pets with my partner, one Golden Retriever and one Dingo -x. My partner's had Bear, the Golden Retriever, for years now, and when we moved into our own home I decided he needed a friend, got on some adoption websites and found my amazing gem of a pet. He's missing a leg and he was incredibly timid and very underweight, and over months of nurturing and feeding and love and gentle pats I watched him become this incredibly bright, excited-about-life creature who just wants to play and hug ALL the time. Since then I've become super passionate about animal rescue and one day I want to own a big block of land and have all the rescue animals!
10. I REALLY like fruit. When apples are in season I'll eat five in a day, easily. Apples are definitely my favourite and there are few days I've gone without eating one in the last ten years.
