Jungle Cat World
So we went to Jungle Cat World in Orono Ontario for Mothers Day because my Mother in Law wanted to, and it sounded like fun. I went when I was a youngin and didn't remember much of anything.
The weather wasn't wonderful, but we didn't mind in the slightest.
We got there and the first thing I saw was an escaped parrot who nobody seemed to have noticed had escaped from his cage
And next to him were these adorable otters
Then the mini feeding tour started and we waited by the lions. The male lion finally came out of the den and layed in the sun. He looked so friendly compared to the female who glared at us and looked like a total bitch. But the male wouldn't close his mouth all the way and had his eyes have closed and then he kept half rolling over. And for a bit I was the only one there, so I kept telling him he was a good boy and that I would rub his belly if he rolled onto his belly and then he did and I didn't know what to do.
Then the tour wound its way to the grey wolves. Before feeding, the alpha female and the other female got into a bit of a fight. The other female was a rescue and my heart kinda fell and I kinda wanted her. And the kid who was feeding them (I say kid cause he looked like he was 16 or 17 and leading this tour) told me a lot about how they interract together and everything. It made me look forward to going to the Wolf Park in Bancroft this Summer. I can't wait.
Then we saw the arctic wolves. There was just the two of them, the female kinda was just in the background but the male jumped into action, literally, only when our "tour guide" came over. He was fine when I was there on my own. It was then explained to me that this perticular alpha male wolf was fine around females, wolf or human, but absolutely hated males, most especially the one that fed him and growled and lunged at him the entire time. I thought it was kinda interesting.
And then...
My most favourite part of the day.
