So apparently my house was broken into yesterday (Thursday) while I was at work (which was only 12-5:30pm and I was home around 6). I had come home to the back door being open but just assumed that my mom had forgotten to close it before she left for the weekend.
Well that wasn't what happened.....my dad had been gone for the week and when he came home today around 8pm he came upstairs and asked where his laptop was. Well I have my own so I have no need to be downstairs using his, also the library was trashed. I called my mom and asked if she had moved his laptop or went looking for something in the library....of course not.
When we went through the house we came to realize that they had taken the screens off of the windows and came in through the window over the sink in the kitchen, carefully moving all of the glassware that was sitting on the ledge. Took both my mom and my dad's laptops, 2 new paintball guns and 2 gun replicas of my dad's and anything that was plugged into my mom's laptop including a mp3 karaoke player and a friend's new hard drive. They probably just left through the backdoor which is why it was open when I got home.
Of course all together it's at least $2500 worth of stuff. But the data on the laptops is what was actually worth more to my parents. My dad had a ton of data on his that he has no where else. We are pretty sure they didn't bother going up to the 2nd floor because none of my stuff was taken. I had my laptop in plain sight up there and a PS2 they probably would've grabbed if they had gone upstairs. Also none of mine or my mom's jewelry from upstairs was taken. It was pretty much a quick grab...besides the guns....I don't think my dad really had those laying around...maybe in a box in the library.
I feel kinda like shit because I didn't even realize or think that's what happened. I mean neither of my parents blame me for not reporting it or saying anything because my reasoning was valid. None of my stuff was taken and I don't know what my parents really do with their laptops (taking them on trips or whatnot) so I had no reason to suspect anything was missing. I seriously don't do much at home. Eat, sleep, shower, and do stuff in my room. And when my parents aren't home I'm barely there as well...
But of course the cop asked why it wasn't reported yesterday when it happened (which even if I had realized we might have been robbed, there was no way I would've been able to list what was missing until my dad or mom got home). They apparently couldn't get any good prints off of the glassware they moved, and while they have "sources" or w/e at like pawn shops and whatnot, I kinda doubt any of it will be recovered. I mean I'm glad they didn't go upstairs cuz I'd be pissed....this laptop is my main means of EVERYTHING! I have all my school stuff and passwords and shit, but I feel AWFUL that my parents stuff was taken.
People are fucking shit head assholes!!!!! WTF!!!! DOUCHEBAGS
