So as some of you know I had no power for pretty much all night last night. This is the back story:
HUGE STORM....Thunder, lightning, funnel clouds, tornado warnings, flooding.... Well I was at work. Not a big deal, right? Well not normally....but our store was built by cutting into a hillside, so since there aren't any tree roots to hold the water or the soil in place...it all eventually makes it down the hill, backing up between the wall and the store. Last night it started flowing from the back door to the back room and then into the bike section in the back of the store. The door eventually couldn't hold the water back any more and busted open and the water made it's way all the way to the front of the store.
The floor looks like it's very polished, that's the water at the front registers. It was at least 3 inches up front.

Here's the exit door...the rug was floating a bit on the water...

Well needless to say we got all the customers out and then sat around for about an hour until the managers sent us home. That was a whole other story...tons of cars stuck in flood water, roads closed due to flooding...It usually takes me 5 maybe 10 minutes to get home...took me a half hour. Our basement had less than 1/4 inch of water, but everything that was on the floor was soaked and the power was out....so I ended up reading a bit and then going to bed for about 2 hours, woke up and couldn't get back to sleep.
Soooo I ended up going to a friend's house because he still had power and wireless....I did get on chat for a bit to say hi but we were getting to bed soon. (No he didn't put out....LOL)
Got home today around noon and we still didn't have power, so I showered and went to Panera for a late lunch, then to the mall for a tiny bit of shopping and then got home to POWER!!!! So exciting!!
On another note...my Grandfather went for his appointment today and they are sure they can get the mass in one surgery and that he won't have to have kemo. This is good news...He's going in for surgery on the 1st and will be in the hospital for at least 5 days for recovery. My cousin is coming down from NY on the 2nd for Anthrocon and my mom was supposed to take him back and forth and kind of just be there....My dad'll be working Thursday and Friday, so this means I'll probably be the one driving at least one way for him. Not a big deal...I'm used to being a "taxi" ha ha.
Tomorrow I have tentative plans to shop at the Outlets in Buffalo, NY with my love bug, littlebaby!!!
SO EXCITED!!!!!

and if you do meet up with littlebaby, make sure you give her a nice long motorboat and when you're done, tell her "that was from Skully"
