I got a visit from my Dad in mid-December. My relationship with my Dad has always been difficult. I used to attribute this to the possibility that my Dad was just not a family man. Also, I find it supremely irritating that he named me after himself (note to all you future fathers out there - don't make your son a "junior" - it's a potential mindfuck if you bail on mother). I think I've mentioned it before, but it bears repeating: there was a significant stretch of time, between the ages of 21 and 29, where I absolutely refused to speak to him.
Well, things change. Damn it.
My Dad has expressed concern about my well being; specifically, he worries I'm never going to get my shit together living on disability for the rest of my life (he's got me there). He reiterated his offer to join his company down in Florida. Essentially, I'd be vice-president of the whole outfit, which managed over 250K worth of sales last year. Not bad, considering the economy. I'd have to be completely out of my mind to refuse this opportunity. I said yes. Sometime soon I'll be south bound.
