"The If 4 were 5 Blues"
When I was 21, I came into possession of my birth cerificate. Up until that point, I wasn't trusted to hold onto the thing. Which makes a funny kind of sense, because I now have no idea where it is. Anyway, I found out that I'd been misspelling my own damn name my enitire life. Imagine that. Wacky. And because I'd misspelled my name, pretty much every important document I ever put my name on is in error. For example, the name on my social security card is technically wrong.
So, once I started using the correct spelling of my name, strange things started happening. Really, I'm not kidding, it was almost as if I started my life over as a different person with different luck (and not all of it changed for the better).
Not long afterward, I came across a book on numerology in the library. I decided to check it out on a whim. I came to find out that people's names effect their lives because of the numerical values inherent to the spelling. Yeah, it's possible to have a name that brings you horrible luck because the letters add up to an unlucky number.
The twisted part is that it was my Mom and Dad who perpetuated the spelling error. Apparently, they forgot the true spelling of my name and told me to use the "erroneous" name instead. What the fuck? The moral here is uh... if you have kids... make sure you know what their names are. And I guess the other moral is that when you believe in things you don't understand then you suffer.
Yup, numerology. Wacky stuff.
