just got back from a few hectic days in Namibia.
I love the place, and we barely had time to even take pictures...
work ran over so we had to work the morning before we flew back and I didn't even get a chance to rip into the dunes on a quad bike... disappointing, but I'll get back there!
but - amazing food. You have not had asparagus until you've had asparagus in Swakopmund. I can't believe I could get all gushy and teary eyed over a vegetable, but as it's the only crop they can grow there it's unbelievably fresh and tasty...
then oysters. A walvis Oyster is better than any other I've ever had... delicious... then there is the meat, REAL free range (i.e. animals that live on zillion hectare farms and get exercise and are not stuffed full of hormones) man. unbelievable.
Love even the airports - they are like Indiana Jones movies - back when travel was romantic, and the plane lands in the middle of the veld (Windhoek) or desert (Walvis) and passport control is a shack just off the runway...
and Namibia is not a place to be fucked with.
this is the skeleton coast... ship wrecks still happen frequently...
only had time to stop at this one - but it's amazing, in a few years sand deposits will mean the beach gets wider and wider until the wreck is resting a few km inland...
and they have great cars there!

I want that Chev...
I can't post pics of what we built and shot there until it's launched, but it's a commenrcial for hunters and it was pretty cool!
here is the action - it was over the horizon, but we could see it in the heat haze - a mirage...
there was a fair amount of excitment - the helicopter that we used seized it's motor on the way back to the airprt and had a 'forced landing' which means 'crashed in the desert' - luckily the pilot was able to auto rotate it in and no one was harmed, but I'm glad I wasn't on it!!! it rolled over on landing and it's wrecked!! I reckon there were some underpants damaged too,
and we now have the small issue that the truck which was supposed to collect the 12m long super car we built packed up on the way there... so it's still stcuk out there in the middle of the desert... and mad max are shooting there tomorrow, so it's chaos trying to sort it out from Cape Town...

Holy shit balls, sounds like one hell of an adventure! I wish all meat came from free range (in the sense that you described) animals. I still wouldnt eat it, but its so much more fair and natural on the animals. Glad you had an awesome time. Cant wait to see pictures of what you were working on.
