A little late for this blog homework...
But almost a year ago, I got to meet Lady Gaga in Dallas after her show. She has been an inspiration to me for years and years, and I first got into her right around when I was coming out. She really helped me to embrace who I am through her music and message. I owe a lot of how self loving and positive I am to her music. It really helped me through a lot as a teenager. A lot of people, whether in the gay community, or not, seem to discredit her for how she presents herself or how dramatic she may come across. At the very least, you have to admit she has talent.
She was extremely genuine and warm in person. The meet and greet lasted around an hour and a half. She began by buying everyone in the Meet and Greet a round of drinks. How many people can say that Gaga bought them a drink?
We were able to ask questions about anything and everything, from song meanings, to personal life, and even upcoming albums.
My favorite part of the night was getting to show her my Gaga inspired half sleeve. At the end of the meet and greet we were instructed to line up on the opposite side of the room to take our photo with her and then leave, but I knew it was going to be possibly my only chance to get to show her. So I walked the exact opposite way the security told us to, and walked right up to her. Security immediately stepped in front of me, but I said "Gaga, I want to show you my half sleeve". To which she responded by moving the security to the side. She touched it almost as in disbelief then gave me a kiss on the cheek and hugged me as she started to tear up and said "You'll never know how much this means to me. I'll always be with you." I proceeded to line up to take my photo and when it was my turn she hugged me again and took a few closeups of my tattoo and some selfies with me.
Truly a magical night that I won't ever forget.
