I have only ever had one tattoo cover up done. I think many people I know can relate to getting their first tattoo and being like, "yes, that served me at the time, but I have changed since then." My very first tattoo, which not a lot of people know about me, was the Japanese symbol for "Poison" on my lower back. Also, this relates to the wild woman I was in my 20's and the Bell Biv DeVoe song, "Poison" that was my theme song at the time. You know what the song says, "never trust a big butt and a smile". LOL
I decided to get the Celtic tree of life on my low back as a way to honor and heal the "roots" within me. I am a healer and an alchemist so my tattoos are part of my healing journey and alchemizing the pain that I have lived through. My tattoos serve as the beauty that comes from pain. I also have several butterflies tattooed on me as another representation of transformation and metamorphosis. I really wanted to honor the style of the Celtic knot and so that is why I decided to do the butterflies in a similar style.
In addition to the cover up, the Celtic tree of life represents the healing I have done in my family lines. I know it has become rather cliche to hear, "I am the generational curse breaker in my family"... well, this is, in fact, me. I won't get too deep into my "woo", but feel free to ask questions if you are interested in learning more about this other side of me. I am an open book and love to get comments and feedback! :)
