Ah yes another weekend spent in NOVA hath fallen to the scythe of Father Time.
Well once again I am jobless. The project that I was working on went.......well it went where all events go when there is alot of misunderstanding and inattention to detail.
My supervisor on this project found another format for the main form that satisfied him. So I hastily continued to finish the last couple online forms via Lifecycle Designer 7.0 that he wanted so I could be free of this project. Well I found out that Reader 6.0 the FREE software that Adobe gives out will not safe both the form and the data. However Adobe Acrobat Professional 7.0 DOES save the form and the data.
Unfortunately this guy I think wanted to get away with paying as little as he could. So he wasn't all that happy when I told him that the new forms would not save the information when used with Reader 6.0. I guess he didn't want to purchase a few more licenses for Acrobate Professional 7.0.
So we had a bit of falling out and he said something to the effect of "Well somebody owes me a bunch of money because you've been taking too long and I already had another solution I wanted." and "well you can't do anything else so why don't you go." Man I was all too happy to jet.
- I've been taking too long, where the hell were you at all this time? I go looking for you and your not around. Your the guy that wants this damn thing. Oh yeah I forgot you took a four day vacation.
- Yeah you got the solution you wanted. Now you have a microsoft draft form that you have to convert to Adobe at the end. Now how long did you let me work in Designer? Most of this damn time. Man, no wonder my buddy drinks alot. I could do the same when dealing with folks that just want something and don't want to understand that some things are easier and there are limitations. Ya cheap bastard.
By the way I fully expect to be sued over this. Can't wait until that happens *sigh*
On the plus side I already had one job interview this week. The job wasn't that hard and I like my boss.
I also got an e-mail back from another company today. So hopefully I can get some work rolling.
I bought a couple of books and a DVD. Here are my reviews:
MEG: Primal Waters. Ah yes the saga of Jonas Taylor and the Megalodon shark Angel continues. If you like indepth technical explainations of the ocean, technology and prehistoric great white sharks. This is the book for you. There was an interesting little moral lesson in this book. If you are living for right now then don't be surprised if tomorrow is a kick in the ass.
Be sure to look up the other two books, The Trench, and Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror. None of this are exactly great literature that will stand the test of time but they do make for a good read.
The Legend of Earthsea DVD: I caught pieces of this movie on the Sci-Fi channel. Now usually when Sci-Fi self produces any movie. I cringe, usually because it has something to giant ass snakes. I swear that Sci-Fi must've bought some great special effect software and are now using it to make bad movies with giant snakes and B-movie actors like Dean Caine. Someone high up in the decision making arena of Sci-Fi must have a snake fetish. Or perhaps a bug fetish, if these B-movies aren't abour giant snakes that were created by the military then its a movie about giant ass bugs with yet more B-movie actors like Richard Greico. What was the last thing he was in that was actually worth it, Oh yeah 21 JumpStreet. Oops, I got off track.
If you like a pretty goodstoryline, some good dialogue and some decent special effects (the Gibbith looks pretty good) check out Legend of Earthsea.
Land of the Dead: Yup the original OZG (Original Zombie Gangster) Giant G Romero has done it again. Hey its a zombie movie, alot of shooting, alot of gnawing and alot of surpise attacks from the living dead who ordinarily can't move all that fast. It was kinda interesting seeing Dennis Hopper play the evil corporate guy when he was the original rebel from Easy Rider. Not exactly sure he pulled it off but it was neat to see him try.
In the past year or two there have been alot of zombie movies coming out. G Romero said once that his movies symbolized how we in the first world are greedy consuming beings with no regard for anything. Trying to satiate our lust or fill the hole in ourselves with buying and consuming shit. (That was my line summing up what he said, kinda) In a way it feels like the seventies again. Lets see, Dick Cheney is in the White House (He was in the White House back in the seventies while being an aide to Nixon) the price of a barrel of oil went to sixty bucks a couple of days ago (See gas crises of the seventies) and George Romero films are in theaters (see some of the original zombie movies of the seventies) shit does this mean that we're all gonna have to wear bell bottoms again? No wonder Star Wars 3 feels eerily like its paralelling current events. Alot of the shitwads that were around for Watergate, Vietnam are around for this wonderful expedition into the Giant Sandbox (Iraq)
I also went and got a book that I should have read back in college. How the hell does an english major get out of college without reading at least some of Leaves of Grass by Walt Whitman? Well you've got me folks. But I did go today and buy a copy. Now if it only doesn't get lost in my latest reading frenzy.
I also got to see Land of the Dead with a great looking girl. Too bad she wasn't with me. *sigh*
Thank you very much for allowing me to pretend that you were there with me. That I was on........gasp an actual Date!!!! It was nice to have somebody there to see it with. Even if it was only pretend.
Well thats about it my tempting vixens and my iron men. I shall talk to you gregarious folks later. *bow and exits the stage with a flourish of his hat*
