I found old love notes from high school today. Also pictures of the first boy that broke my heart.
Nothing makes you feel better about yourself than reading the lovely things someone said about you.
I should've dated that boy. He was willing to put himself on the line over me. Probably the first one ever. I was scared of it, but that's what happens when you're sixteen.
I dug out my box of letters on his request, actually. I'd run into him first around Thanksgiving, then recently seen him because his best friend was the boy I was seeing. Talked to him the other day and re-promised him to find them.
Found them. Now I'll have to call him. We can sit and have a beer and read them and laugh at our teenage selves and how easy it all was, and maybe it will take his mind off the mess his life's in right now.
It certainly did that for me.

I'd love to look at the HS things once more before I give them up for good. I tis good to look back at the past as long as it doesn't prevent you from moving into the future.
