I really, really, really hate when people say they want something and say they want something and then when you offer them a step towards getting it, throw the shit in your face.
Example. I happen to know this (really gorgeous and talented, but that's another story) guy who happens to be the singer for this rockin' band that is in the process of deciding whether or not to sign to a new record label, or maybe start their own imprint. His band happens to be playing about 2 hours from me a week from Friday.
Then there's this boy, you may have heard me refer to him. Briefly, he was THE boy, now he's just a friend. He's got this band, and he says all he wants to do is be a musician. When I tell him that the above-mentioned guy is playing in Columbia on Friday the 4th and that he should come to the show (he digs the band) with me and meet the guy who might, just might, be able to help him out with band stuff, what the fuck does he say?
"I don't know if I want to go."
Jesus H. Christ. WHY THE FUCK NOT? At the very worst, you'd go see a band you like. At the very best, you could make a very very good connection for your band.
That's like me saying, "Hey, I don't want to go to this book signing for this author who also happens to run her own publishing company that publishes the type of stuff that I write." It's just dumb.
I'm like, "What, you just don't want to spend four hours in a car with me?I'm driving up anyway, all you have to do is pay cover at the show."
"I don't have the time." Fuck you and your not having the time. You work with me, your schedule's the same as mine. Your girlfriend will understand. If she doesn't, she's a lame bitch. Fuck it, bring her! I will even sit in the goddamn car for four hours with you and your new motherfucking girlfriend to try and help you meet someone who could help you get your ass out of Hilton Head, South Carolina.
I am not a high-maintenance girl, I realize. I am high-intensity, though. It pisses me off when people would rather hem and haw and make excuses for why they can't have what they want then go out and make an effort at getting it. Even though I do those things myself.
