shopping and kickboxing and chocolate, oh my!
life is good. so long as I don't watch the news or read the newspaper too much, then I get angry and hostile and really need those sessions with the heavy bag. they frustrate me and make me snarl at people whose feelings on the subjects differ from my own and treat them like the enemy. How many times have I chatted with a nice customer at work and then walked outside to help them put their bike in the truck and seen a Bush/Cheney sticker and wanted to beat them to death with my pedal wrench?
that's not right, I know that's not right. what's right is writing about it and talking about it in a normal tone of voice and showing tolerance by example. after all if I expect people to be tolerant of my hippie-pacifist-tolerant-all-embracing-liberal ways, I must be able to be tolerant of them.
I don't ask that everyone rush out and get gay married, have abortions, give away all their money and adopt an African AIDS orphan (though it would be awesome if you did. well, the baby part.) I don't expect them all to have kinky S&M sex and get naked on the internet. Nobody needs to buy sex toys and watch porn and smoke pot. I just want them to realize that when other people do these things, IT DOESN'T AFFECT THEM.
I have these conversations with my wonderful, beautiful, supportive boyfriend all the time, (I know you're probably going to read this, baby, and I hope you're not mad) where I try to explain the difference between things I would do (drink occasionally, have premarital sex, watch porn, etc.) and things that are not right for me, but that I wholeheartedly support your rights to (smoke pot, be christian/muslim/pagan/whateverthehellGodyoubelievein,have abortions, get gay married, get naked on the internet, strip, be in hardcore S&M porn). My tits are never gonna be up on SuicideGirls. But that doesn't mean that I think less of people that are. Obviously. I love you girls.
I don't know. In my rambling-ass way I guess I'm trying to get back to that oft-misquoted line "Think for yourselves and let others enjoy the privilege to do so too." (Voltaire really did say that one) If it doesn't actually hurt you or anyone else, let other people worry about their own damn decisions. (Of course, you could re-open the abortion argument there, and I must say it's the only real thing that can be argued as far as my worldview.)
Meh. Someday I will take less Day-Quil and make more sense.

That was perfect.
Yeah, as much as I love 'Momers, I don't think I would have another.
