smiledon (the tumor kitty) went to the vet this morning. the vet said that he had cancer, and because the tumor was actually coming from his gums, she said it was a form that would not respond to treatment. he was euthanized today.

i had to be at work while he went to the vet, and i've been trying not to cry all day. at least he won't starve to death on the street, unable to eat due to his tumor. i'm really grateful for the concern everyone has shown this poor cat. for those of you that offered donations, i am so touched, and i'm sure smiley would be too. if you would still like to help the cause of animals just like him, please look into volunteering at or donating to your local animal shelter.

please remember to spay and neuter your pets. the vast pet overpopulation is what forces these unwanted animals onto the streets, where they cannot recieve any vet care. i'm sure there are smiley cats in every major city in the US. they all need help, and most won't recieve it. i wish we could have done more for him, i wish that no cat would ever be put into this situation.

rest in peace, smiley. i'm so sorry that humanity failed you.
