I'm in a hotel full of recording artists and I'm working on a music show, so it shouldn't be a surprise that Eddie Levert is sitting at the bar. But he's sitting at the bar alone -- and I figure I'll go say hello. Now, for those of you who don't know, Eddie Levert is and always has been a member of the preeminant 70's R&B group The O'Jays. If that doesn't ring a bell, these songs will: "Love Train," "Use Ta Be My Girl," "Backstabbers," and "For the Love of Money." We have a drink and talk about how "Spanish Harlem" is a special song for him and The Drifters and music in general. And I came away feeling that this was really special. It made me want to tell you to go out and buy a damn O'Jays record. You'll thank me for it.
