UPDATE: 5/3/06 - no matter how funny or unique your journal entry today is - there's a new Danielle set up and it WILL take precedence over whatever's happening in your life.
UPDATE to the update: Also - those are not resized photos of her - that is her ACTUAL size!

Sunday's trip to Idyllwild, CA
I have wanted to go here, ever since I saw it on one of a certain cosplaying Dumpling's pics. After 27 years, though - I still hadn't made the vacation plan. I was worried so I consulted a doctor. Sure enough, I suffer from a medical condition called "Lazy ass." After defiantly leaving the office, I immediately consulted the aforementioned Dumpling for directions. She's like Mapquest, only cuter and has less advertising.
Idyllwild is way up in the San Bernadino Forest. You drive a wind-y road up, up, up, up and then - you get to go down a little, but then back up. I passed St. Peter who was standing in front of some cream colored gates. I didn't think anything of it because a lot of folks have their property fenced off there.
My quest for a serene peace little town was initially fulfilled by this tiny mountain haven. Ideally, what I've been looking for is an actual town like Stars Hollow on Gilmore Girls. Yes, it's my favorite show - my therapist tells me it's totally fine for me to be a 16 year old girl once a week. (what he doesn't know is I own the box sets!! hee-hee)
And there you have it - a gazebo in the middle of a town square - just like Star's Hollow. Not perfect, but enough to give me thoughts of moving there and marrying Lauren Graham underneath it. I was hungry from the trip there (my slipstream drive was offline) and the Dumpling had made it perfectly clear that I was to try the gormet vegetarian pizza with alfredo sauce. Below is the result:
I ate about half. It was quite delicious and now I feel it is my duty to do anything the Dumpling says.
This was my attempt to recreate the shot that initially got me interested in the town, minus the really good looking women.
Success - or not so much? That is the Dumpling on the right. She owns this pic.
A shot of town sans comedy, but this is probably where I would go for coffee every morning. In Gilmore Girls, it would be "Lukes."
I believe this is the road into town? I can't recall now. It was really hot and I didn't bring sunblock.
A little more town flavor. I desperately tried to keep all the tourists out of my shots. I had no idea what a touristy town this is, 6500 feet upin the mountains. Everyone was either 16, 50 or 70.
This is a shop I went in and it totally made me think of the Dumpling, what with its Elvis stuff and board games and princess accessories. I bet this is her favorite place in town.
I would live in this house. If you can see it - Photobucket shrank it like Ashlee Simpson's dignity on SNL - but I'm telling you, I would so live in this house. Right beneath it is this creek:
Now that is some serenity, my friends. Granted 3/4 of the year, the serenity is frozen solid and poised to snap your spine as you slip on its icy roads. But I like this place more than any other I've seen in SoCal so far. It's a contender.
