I got my new digital camera today! See, the Alberta Provincial government had an insane surplus this past fiscal year and decided to give back some of the money to Albertans, they submitted a 2004 tax return and weren't in a provincial penetentary. All eligible Albertans received $400 to do with however they pleased. I've been looking at this little beauty for six months now, and I knew that this was the camera for me. I've only read a bit of the booklets that came with the camera, and there is so much I can do with it! Plus, the quality of the pictures is so much better. The one thing that I wish this camera had is the 12x zoom that my other camera had. Yes, thats right, 12x zoom. This new camera of mine only has 4x optical zoom, but that should be plenty. I can also buy lenses for the camera down the road if I want to. *squeal*.
So, this is me having fun with my new toy:
My roommate's fish and cat statue. The fish even posed for me!
My mom got Swarovski hippos for me and my sister when she was in London. Baby hippopotamuses are all the rage in Western Canada and Toronto due to an ad that Telus Communications put out around Christmas time. To add to the whole craze, the Calgary Zoo is housing a baby hippo temporarily for a zoo in Montreal. I still need to go see him.
Alright, this is proof enough that I need to figure out the flash controls on this camera. The picture wasn't meant to turn out like this, but I like it anyways. I think I might stick it as my user picture for awhile, just for shock value.
I want to go take more pictures, but I need to spend some of the afternoon playing with foam core for my next assignment in my architectural fundamentals class: building models. Gag me with a spoon.
Expect more pictures to come!

Your zoom range sounds fine though Australians probably wouldnt give a 4X for it (you probably don't get that do you?)
I find the flash on my SLR rather vicious, it would be nice it had a swivelling head to bounce the light - I sometimes hold a tissue over it to diffuse the light.
Please don't mention Swarovski - I was held captive in a Swarovski shop in Vienna until I coughed up for a ring.
Foamcore modelling that's softcore rather than hardcore Sounds fun to me ....
Just say No to Swarovski
