Highlights of my day:
* As I was waiting to get on the bus after work (wearing all black), there were 2 drunk men sitting together on the benches at the Bus Stop -- one looked about one-hundred-and-thirty years old and wasn't moving all that much, while the other was somewhat younger (mid to late fifties) and busy belting out a few tunes as he sat there in the Wintery afternoon sun. Said "youngster" then looked over at me as I waited to get on board the bus ... he then called out: "wear all black and you'll never look back!" and winked at me ... I looked over and sort of nodded and gave him a friendly smile
... this apparently encouraged him as he yelled out: "You're an Ebony Princess". I wasn't sure if this comment was directed at me, but as I strolled down the aisle of the bus, it became abundantly clear that it was indeed for me ... he was standing at the window across from me throwing his arms in the air and gleefully serenading
tee hee ... he actually had a rather beautiful voice and his inebriated, gay abandon absolutely made my day (after a few rather shitty moments at work) ...
** Watched "Mystic River" -- good film, although slightly disappointing in that some of the dialogue and aspects of the plot were incredibly predictable and kinda tacky ... Sean Penn was great (as always), as were Tim Robbins and Marcia Gay Harden ... I guess the film is great because it is very pristine -- technical perfection and so on ... and there is great depth to some of the characters ,,, but still, sort of lacking something.
*** Watched "Big Fish" -- I want to live in the fictive/diegetic world of this film!!!! I loved every one of its 120 minutes... AND ... Marion Cotillard (who plays Billy Crudup's character, Will Bloom's wife, Josephine) is one of the most beautiful creatures in the whole wide world ...
**** Ended the night with "21 Grams" (yes, my eyes are pretty much square -- 3 films in one day is a bit much -- to be fair, I didn't put the last one on until about midnight -- plenty of space in between) -- great film ... gritty and fragmented ... very dark and moody ... Naomi Watts is gorgeous and brilliant -- Sean Penn is much more impressive in this role than in Mystic I think -- And Benicio Del Toro ,,,, well when I die, I think I want to come back as this man
OK ... I'll shut up now

I don't do movies very often.
J and I just met for dinner, but we had a great talk. She's got some issues with communicating, which is why I haven't been pursuing her lately. Too frustrating trying to develop a relationship with someone who never calls and rarely answers the phone. Aloof is probably the best word to describe her. But we always seem to have a good time together.
But I went to uni there, and I don't trust myself to not turn into one of those creepy alumnists who is always on campus.
I really wanted to get to Sydney, but I wasn't able to get enough time off of work. I might apply to work at Southern Star some day, and they're based in Sydney....
