Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.
I'll be in New York November 1st to the 6th. The Tiger Lillies and the Slits are playing my first night in. THE SAME NIGHT. I got tickets to both, okay? I can't deciiiiiiide. Granted, the Slits are playing a HUGE CMJ showcase show, and the only other band in that lineup that I'd also really like to see are the Apes, so, there's a distinct possibility that the Slits will go last -- no, I wager it's a probability, although they ARE old, so who fucking knows. But maybe... Maybe after the Tiger Lillies are done singing about sticking their organs in Jesus Christ's mouth and Mozart's wife and a fellow who isn't very good at commiting suicide, maybe after they're done singing and stuff, MAYBE I can strap some rockets to my Converses and make my way over to the Knitting Factory. From Brooklyn. The DUMBO area.
I even went to fucking Mapquest to see if it was feasible. According to them, it's an eight minute trip from St. Ann's Warehouse to the Knitting Factory, with a total distance of 2.3 miles. Now, that's driving in a taxi, I presume. Is that even possible? Eight minutes? Really? Can some native New Yorker tell me if I can do this shit? Is there a particular train or bus I should take? Both shows start at eight, and I can't imagine the Tiger Lillies going on for more than two hours maybe. And maybe the Slits take the stage at 12. I have tickets. Are they going to let me into the show so late? Will they let in smelly college kids who have badges, but no tickets, and say, "Fuck you, lady, doors opened at 7. NO REFUNDS." I mean, I almost always go to shows late to skip the opening bands, unless some pallies I know are IN the opening band... But, this is CMJ, it's different right? I went to the Brazilian Girls show at Winter Music Conference last year twenty minutes late -- I had tickets, but they wouldn't let me in. "Sorry, lady, fire hazard." Didn't matter. I got to see Peaches and 2 Live Crew on a different night, but STILL.
Yeah, well, here's the directions and shit.

WAHHHHHH. This is much harder than deciding if I should go to Evil Dead: The Musical or the Thrill Jockey showcase, featuring Bobby Conn. HOWEVER, that last decision got a little less hard now that I know Bruce Campbell will be there for the performance I have tickets to (THIRD ROW, BITCHES, one row behind the "splatter zone"), and he will be answering questions from scary little fanboys and also some scary fat boys, I'm sure. Yeah. I'll see Bobby Conn another time. Whatevs, right?
Man, I'm certainly not wanting for shit to do during my little trip to New York this November, no? WFMU record fair, CMJ music jimmy jam... Man. This is either going to be the best vacation ever, or the most stressful, or maybe possibly both.
