I have had such an awesome week, volunteering at Sci-Fi London, and I cannot wait for the futher events to be a part of.
I have been involved with all the things that goes on behind-the-scenes of a film festical:
Helping people register for our 48hr short competition -
- I will certainly be applying next for this competition.
Packing and handing out special goodies given to the festival by it's sponsers. Goodies included T-Shirts, DVDs, Posters and specialist gifts for each of the All-Nighters.
Ushering people into the screens, to their seats, and with the privilage of sitting in on the films.
Handing out free drinks, food and sugar to our VIPs and All-Nighters.
The All-Nighters were the most fun. Very busy inbetween screenings, but whilst everyone was in their screens, the volunteers just messed about and had loads of geeky conversations - I loved it!
I managed to get a few business cards and meet people in the media business, which is awesome, so hopefully not only will I not be unemployed for long but I will also be in a business I enjoy.
One thing I found really funny was the weather was meant to be raining throught the festival, but instead it was a bright sunny and hot week, until the festval was coming to a close and then it started to rain - I think Mother Nature is a fan of Sci-Fiction haha
