It's nearing the end of day 3 in Haiti. Day 1 was spent traveling and getting situated. I spent Day 2 sleeping and networking. Day 3 has been spent doing more networking and taking care of things back home via the internet. I've made connections to an Irish NGO that is seeking someone to do biogas research, and I started researching a Gates Foundation grant for a sanitation project I have been involved with. Things are moving at Haiti speed--meaning things are moving slowly. Things in Haiti can't be rushed.
It's interesting to notice that despite being on an island far away from home I find things still get done the same way as they get done in L.A., Dallas, and Washington D.C. That is, when the big dawgs with the big money need to make important connections it all gets done over beers. So the past few nights have been spent schmoozing with the elite over cocktails. This is going to be an interesting trip.
One last thing, I am a featured guest caller on the Dr. Susan Block Show this Saturday night. The show airs at 11 PM Pacific time. I will be calling sometime between 11 PM and midnight. Listen at http://theater.drsusanblock.tv/wordpress/listen-now/.

Thank goodness for the social and economical lubricant that is booze.
