I learned from a friend that Chile experienced an 8,8 earthquake tonight. What a tragedy. It validates my decision to learn how to fly a plane, since I hope to use this skill to fly supplies to remote areas in need. Chile would be such an example.
Why do I have such a fascination with helping areas struck by disasters? It's because I survived the 1994 Northridge Earthquake. Part of my apartment complex collapsed, and I lost my boss in the Northridge Meadows Apartment when it collapsed under the seismic stress. In addition, I worked at the Northridge Fashion Center, which became a pile of rubble after the quake. So I greatly appreciate how devastating an earthquake can be. I can only imagine what it may be like in an area such as Haiti or Chile, where the infrastructure is not as sound.
Tonight at the dungeon I worked with some of my great friends. Mistress Danielle has returned after 2-years, so Mistress Madelaine and I were tickled to have her back. Cassandra was also present. I hadn't seen her since Christmas so she and I had much to catch up on, especially since she visits Morocco in April. We took over one of the dungeon rooms and spent hours and hours chatting since it was a slow night.
We shared our woes. Mistress Danielle quit smoking and has found her fetish clothes don't fit like they used to. Mistress Madelaine has issues at the barn where she boards her horse. I lamented my trivial concerns. We all shared frustrations in our recent romances, or lack thereof. Three beautiful, intelligent woman dressed in stockings and corsets, none of which can find a worthy suitor. We are experts in the art of bdsm, but find ourselves alone each night, not for lack of suitors, but for lack of men of character.
Our biggest woe of the night is the spreading of polyamory, or as my friend Tommy puts it, "It's the politically correct way of saying, 'Hey, I wanna fuck around.'" It is very hip in the bdsm scene to practice infidelity in the name of polyamory. Mistress Danielle, Mistress Madelaine, and I are not happy with it. Someone always gets hurt, as we've all experienced.
It is surprising that woman working in such a sexually charged atmosphere would prefer monogamy to polyamory. Perhaps we witness everyday the follies of men who seek things their wives or girlfriends cannot provide? One must admit, we are experts in this field. Or perhaps we see our friends live polyamorous lifestyles just to see them crumble later? It happens so often where the grass is always greener on the other side, but once that fence is hopped it pales in comparison.
For those people practicing polyamory and making it work, God bless you all. I wish I could make it work. On paper, yes. In practice, I have yet to find it satisfying. My heart only has so much blood to feed the extremities. I don't have enough to supply extras. If one organ feasts, another starves. I'd rather nourish one than try to spread myself across too many.
